KIKAN Edication for Graduate Schools

About the KIKAN Edication for Graduate Schools

Our goal at Kyushu University is to nurture human resources equipped with a sound core of basic education along with a proactive stance toward independent lifelong learning. With this in mind, we have established courses for first-year students that begin by reinforcing the foundations of their learning, and which then go on to help them develop and master these foundations through undergraduate education.

Basic education at graduate schools seeks to build on what students learned during their undergraduate studies, taking their capabilities to an even higher level. The goal of basic education at this level is to nurture in students a sophisticated and universal set of knowledge, skills and mindsets (high-end literacy) that will prove useful in their education, research and in a range of professions following their graduation. Students learn the ability not to simply transmit knowledge but to actively think about the nature of specific issues at hand and to develop upon what they have learned.
