I came to Japan in 1998 at Hiroshima University by the recommendation of the Japan Embassy, Dhaka, Bangladesh, to study Masters leading to PhD on Histophysiology. The President’s Distinction Award was given to me during my Ph.D. graduation in 2004 from the President of Hiroshima University for my research achievements in Stress Physiology. I had studied on novel RFaminde neuropeptides and their homologs at Hiroshima University and Waseda University from 2004 to 2008 as a Post-doc researcher in difference species, namely, newt, bullfrog, quail, chickens, monkey and humans. I was a Lecturer of Experimental Biology at Hosei University in 2008 and worked as an adjunct Professor (Associate) in the Department of Biology at Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 2009 to teach Problem-Based Learning. Since 2010, I have been working at Kyushu University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After joining Kyushu University, I have started to study on heat stress in chickens, which is a major threat in poultry industry. We have revealed some physiological and metabolic markers of heat stress and discovered some amino acids, namely, L-citrulline, L-leucine and taurine, which have thermoregulatory role. Besides, amino acids, I am also focusing on neuropeptides, namely neuropeptide Y and its family peptides in controlling stress and immune functions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My main affiliation is with the Faculty of Arts and Science, Kyushu university. I am also affiliated with the School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation and Graduate School of Bioresource and Bioenvironmental Science. Dr. Zakaria  ELHUSSINY received his Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Dr. Vishwajit S. Chowdhury at Kyushu University in 2022. He was honored with the Graduate School Award for Outstanding Research from the Graduate School of Bioresource and Bioenvironmental Sciences. He is currently a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow in the Lab of Animal Nutritional Physiology, Kyushu University. His research focuses on elucidating hypothalamic neuronal pathways involved in thermoregulation and exploring the epigenetic mechanisms modulated by amino acids in chicks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maria CHATZIIOANNIDI was born and raised in Athens, Greece, where she developed a deep interest in animals from an early age. This passion led her to pursue her studies at the Agricultural University of Athens, specializing in Animal Science. During her academic journey, she became particularly drawn to animal histology, with a focus on chickens, a topic that has not been widely explored. Her academic journey led her to join Dr. Vishwajit Sur Chowdhury\u2019s laboratory as a Ph.D. candidate. The research theme of Maria is to reveal the functional mechanism of NPY in regulating immune functions in heat-exposed chickens. She is excited to contribute her findings and to learn from her supervisor and her fellow lab members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Apart from research, Maria enjoys painting and crocheting. She also likes walking and exploring new and peaceful places in the countryside. <\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Yuya Hiramatsu is a 4th-year student in the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Science of Innovation. Originally interested in the structure of living organisms, he was drawn to this laboratory because its research connects to real-world social issues. He is studying the effects of NPY on chickens under heat stress. Specifically, he is investigating how NPY affects body temperature changes and monoamines, while also researching the interaction between NPY and melatonin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His hobbies include traveling and sports. He enjoys visiting various countries during long vacations and plays a variety of sports, including soccer, baseball, and basketball.\u201c<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

She joined this lab because she is interested in meditation and stress, which Professor Sur dealt with in his classes. her research focuses on the effects of L-citrulline to mitigate heat stress in chickens. In detail, he study the mechanisms by which L-citrulline regulates blood cholesterol in broilers, egg quality, and amino acid metabolism in layers under summer heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
