About the lecture:
The past decade has brought to light the problem of cyberbullying – a form of unethical behavior on the Internet. Research on Automatic Cyberbullying Detection is a project that started in 2009 at Kitami Institute of Technology to help mitigate this problem. In the lecture, the speaker will introduce the problem of cyberbullying, how pervasive it has become, and thus how difficult it is to solve. The speaker will also present recent attempts to automatically detect cyberbullying online.
About the speaker:
Associate Professor Michal Ptaszynski works at the Department of Computer Science at Kitami Institute of Technology. He graduated from Hokkaido University with a Ph.D. in Information Science. He is working on a number of projects including the detection of cyberbullying entries on the internet.
