Professor Augusto Delgado will give a lecture titled “Regions as a Key Factor of the Development Process: Why and How Modern Economy is Focusing on Cities and Regions” this January! Make sure to join us for this special SALC event!
About the Lecture: In the past, experts focused on countries in order to determine economic growth. “What did this country do to achieve economic growth?” was a common question for economists. However, access to new data and technology has allowed experts to understand that growth does not occur in a uniform manner. Many economists now focus on cities and regions in order to understand the development process.
About the speaker: Professor Augusto Delgado graduated from Kyushu University with a PhD in Economics. He currently works as an Assistant Professor in the Economics Department at Waseda University. Professor Delgado moved from Peru to Japan to study Japan’s post-war rapid economic growth to see if the process was applicable to Peru.
