SALC Events (Autumn/Winter Semester 2018)

SALC will be hosting lots of great events this semester. Read on to find-out more details. We hope you can participate!

Language Tables

Interested in studying Japanese, Russian, or Spanish? SALC will be holding language tables in Japanese, Russian, and Spanish during lunch times throughout the semester! This is a great opportunity to try practicing a new language with native speakers! All levels are welcome to join!

Please see the poster below for more information about this term’s language tables.

Book Discussion

Have you read any good books lately? Any favorites? Come and talk about them in SALC! The table will be divided into two parts:

Part 1: Talk about your own book
In this section you can present the book to the rest of the group. Tell us what you found important about the text. Then, bring a visual aid from a scene, character or something from the book that made an impression on you and explain.

Part 2: Discuss our text
Your table leader will propose a text to discuss with the group. Let us know your thoughts. What was the author trying to say? The texts will be available at SALC. Pick up a copy for free!

Please see the poster below for more information about this month’s new book discussion.

Pictionary

Have you ever played Pictionary? This classic board game is loved by people across all generations! Help your team get to the finish line by drawing and guessing words! There are five categories to choose from: person, animal or place (yellow); object (blue); action (orange); difficult (green) and all play (red). Land on red and get a chance to steal a turn!

Please see the poster below for more information about when we will be playing Pictionary in SALC this month.

Game Night

Has exam season has got you stressed? Why not come to SALC and relax? Choose from a wide selection of board games, join a table and play! When you’re done, you decide what happens next! Either stay at the table and play a different game (purple), get your revenge and play the same game again (orange), or move to an English conversation table (green).

Please see the poster below for more information about this month’s game nights.

Trivia Night

Interested in quizzes and trivia? Can you answer general knowledge questions without Google? Compete with other students and win a prize! Even if you don’t know the answers, it can be a great way to practice English and learn some interesting facts! We will announce the topic for each quiz at the beginning of every month.
