On January 10, Professor Jasper Andriessen gave a lecture titled “Transforming Grains of Continental Sand into Pearls.” Professor Andriessen specializes in contemporary art and currently teaches at Seinan Gakuin University. He spoke about how cultural exchange between Japan and the West has impacted art. The lecture highlighted examples of cultural exchange between Japan and the West from the mid-16th century (during Japan’s sakoku period) until the present.
